Standards for Financial Educators in Africa
The NFEC created the Framework for Teaching Personal Finance, the first – and still only – set of professional industry standards designed specifically for financial education instructors. This Framework provides clear, researchaligned benchmarks that help educators strengthen their instruction and equip learners with realworld financial skills.
Developed in partnership with the Danielson Group and aligned with InTASC principles, the Framework adapts Charlotte Danielson’s wellknown educational model to the context of financial literacy. Rooted in constructivist learning, it outlines 22 evidencebased components that define the knowledge, competencies, and performance expectations educators must demonstrate. These components also map out instructional practices linked to measurable learner outcomes and ongoing professional growth.
Danielson’s Framework for Teaching – supported by extensive research and widely trusted by educators, administrators, policymakers, and academics – identifies the skill sets that distinguish effective educators and clarifies performance levels across the profession. Adopted in more than 20 U.S. states, it remains the most widely used teaching model in the United States and has similar relevancy on a global scale.
