How We Support Financial Educators and Communities Across Africa
Leading Training & Credentials for Financial Educators
The National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) has empowered a global community of more than 5,000 Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI) graduates. Collectively, these professionals have invested over 300,000 hours in advanced training and have delivered financial education to 1.4 million people across 71+ countries and every U.S. state.
At the heart of our mission is the industrydefining Framework for Teaching Personal Finance – developed in collaboration with the Danielson Group and aligned with InTASC principles. This framework establishes the gold standard for what exceptional financial educators must know and be able to do, outlining the competencies and observable practices that elevate instruction from good to truly transformative.
Earning the CFEI credential signals that an instructor has met these rigorous benchmarks. It is a mark of excellence – demonstrating mastery, ethical practice, and a commitment to delivering highquality financial education that changes lives
Launch-to-Impact Program Support
The NFEC delivers comprehensive, end to end support so instructors and program leaders can stay focused on creating impact. Whether you’re building a new initiative or enhancing an existing one, we help design, staff, and scale high quality financial education programs that generate measurable results. Our aim is straightforward: increase program effectiveness while reducing the time, cost, and staffing demands required to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Financial education is still a grassroots movement, and we’re committed to expanding access so organizations of all sizes can offer powerful learning experiences. Through turnkey resources, professional training, funding guidance, and local partnerships, we empower communities to deliver practical financial education that strengthens capability, confidence, and long term resilience.
Community Mobilization – Local Chapter Leadership
State chapters power targeted advocacy, local impact, and scalable financial wellness initiatives – transforming instructor training into realworld action. From delivering lifechanging skills to forging partnerships with community leaders, NFEC chapters strengthen organizations across the region and spotlight their achievements through award ceremonies that honor standout students, educators, and community champions.
Each chapter is driven by a local Advisory Board focused on three core priorities: Empowerment – giving individuals and families the confidence and capability to make informed financial decisions; Advocacy – leading multilevel campaigns that secure policy wins and funding commitments; and Relationships – cultivating partnerships with schools, employers, media, and policymakers to accelerate adoption and ensure longterm sustainability. Together, these pillars turn classroom progress into lasting, measurable community transformation.
National Advocacy with Community Impact
The NFEC is accelerating a nationwide push to ensure that every student graduates from senior high school equipped with the money skills essential for lifelong selfsufficiency. We’ve embraced a bold, multidimensional advocacy strategy that raises expectations, shifts public perception, advances policy, and transforms the systems that allow financial illiteracy to persist. By collaborating with partners, establishing rigorous standards, and driving legislative progress, we’re building a movement that elevates financial wellness as a national priority across the education, health, and economic sectors.
Through our United for Financial Literacy Advocacy Committee, we’ve activated a community of champions committed to expanding financial education. Each quarter, we rally around a focused campaign designed to move the needle on financial wellness and create measurable, lasting impact.
